"Nor rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night..."

Winnie M. Phillips, Mail Carrier, 1940's

In the 1940's, mail carrier Winnie M. Phillips delivered mail to the San Jacinto Mountain communities including the Santa Rosa Indian reservation often delivering medicine, groceries, household supplies and important daily information from ranch to ranch along her route. At the time, she was one of the few women in the State contracted to haul mail and her route was considered one of the most hazardous.
